Will the Lib Dems let Ving do his sums?
Besides the leadership crisis, the Lib Dems are also in the midst of an ideological war. The latest shot has been fired by Vincent Cable, who has announced that the party will aim to cut the main rate of tax from 22p in the £ to 20p. But this will require spending cuts of up to £6 billion, something that runs at odds with many a Liberal Democrat spending pledge. So will the Lib Dems propose these cuts or will we once again see the Lib Dems offering two mutually contradictory policies?

This requires a strong leader to stand up and unite his party, setting out the path ahead. So dont expect the divisions to end quite yet...
