Deckchairs on the Titanic reshuffled

Tony Blair has begun his reshuffle of the government. Unsurprisingly Charles Clarke has been axed, but many Labour activists will be wondering if Blair could have done this a few days earlier and helped the Labour Party.

In a bold and imaginitive move John Reid moves to fill a major vacancy. Meanwhile John Prescott loses his departmental responsibilities.

Does Blair really believe these are the sort of changes the public want?
