Grassroots Lib Dems give up on Ming

Thanks to Cllr Iain Lindley for highlighting this story. When revisting his old university (York) he saw this leaflet by local Lib Dems advertising a meeting with Nick Clegg:

As Iain says:

I couldn't help noticing that the University Liberal Democrats are showing their strong support for Sir Ming by... advertising a visit by Clegg as "a potential future leader of the Liberal Democrats".

So was this due to the local Lib Dems taking an initiative or is Clegg generally advertising himself as a future leader? And what does the embattled current one think?
