No longer the lingua franca but the langua angla

Jacques Chirac threw a strop at an EU summit today, all because a French business leader chose to address the summit in, in his own words, "the accepted business language of Europe today" - i.e. English.

No longer does the world converse in the lingua franca but instead it now uses the langua angla. Maybe it's time to rewrite the famous scene in Yes Prime Minister:
Jim: Don't we ever get our way with the French?
Sir Humphrey: Well, sometimes.
Jim: When was the last time?
Sir Humphrey: Battle of Waterloo 1815.
