As you can see I've changed the template for this blog for the first time in many years. The old template was getting too narrow for some images and videos and also is harder to adjust these days.

I'm going to experiment a bit further with other ways to enhance the look of the blog so if you have any suggestions please feel free to leave them in the comments.

As a special treat for my readers in Germany, and a revelation for many in the UK, here is the cult English language (apart from the short intro) sketch Dinner for One that the Germans repeatedly enjoy every year as part of the New Year's Eve celebrations, yet which is virtually unknown here in the UK:

Welcome to 2009!

Happy New Year everyone! 2008 was quite a year and it seems 2009 will be even more unpredictable. Still we'll see what it brings.

And I can't let the opportunity pass without noting that for many of a certain generation, today is the day that the Time Wars begin. Fortunately in the real world we're spared not only giant robots trying to suck the planet dry of its natural resources and terrorise humans but also the awful fashions predicted. However when I went into a shop the other day I saw that Dragon's Claws has been collected in a tradepaperback and so is once again available. So one prediction of that future from twenty years ago has come true...
